YOU'RE INVITED!
2021 EMANCIPATION DAY VIRTUAL CELEBRATION!

2021 marks the First National Emancipation Day across Canada, as championed by Rosemary Sadlier. Over 25 years ago Rosemary initiated the first of many commemorations of August 1st as Emancipation Day. She secured national support for Emancipation Day and worked with allies like the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario His Hon. David Onley, and facilitated joint celebrations of Emancipation Day and Simcoe Day at Fort York National Historic Site, here in Ontario, reaching upwards of 2000 people.

Now, 13 years after securing unanimous approval in the Province of Ontario, it has received similar unanimous support nationally, Rosemary saw the passage of M-36 introduced by the Honourable MP Majid Jowhari, creating August 1st as Emancipation Day across Canada!

Hosted by Patricia Mawa, the Executive Vice President of Silvertrust Media and Afroglobal Television, the event features an exciting lineup of speakers and performers:

Archbishop Dr. Deloris Seiveright
MP Majid Jowhari
Honourable Patricia Scotland
Honourable MP Greg Fergus
Senator Wanda Thomas Bernard
