Generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, "Braids On Call" is a program aimed at women with some braiding experience who wish to refine their skills and become certified braiders. The women will also develop their communication and management skills for their own salon, and learn how to generate income.

The launch event will help promote the academy, as well as serve as an opportunity for hair braiders and women within the industry to network. It will also feature live beauty demos from local makeup artists/nail technicians, a braiding contest with prizes, food and drinks, and more.
