AfroToronto.com was launched on February 4th, 2005 by three African-Canadian young professionals out of a desire to provide a single destination on the internet to reflect the best in the arts, culture and lifestyles of Toronto's varied Afro-Canadian community. The site is now managed by one of the original founders, Meres J. Weche

AfroToronto.com is a vibrant one-stop online hub providing the latest in both Toronto and international black community news from various syndicated sources and original articles. The portal focuses on current events, business, the arts, books, culture, lifestyle and e-commerce.

AfroToronto.com is part of Culture Shox Media. Culture Shox Media was founded in 2006 by Meres J. Weche, and currently publishes several other online properties such as: Toronto-Franco.com (created by the same three original partners in 2004), Outwardbounders.com, and SearchTravelDeal.com.
