JUNO Award-winning artist Jully Black aka Canada’s Queen of R&B is going on her first headline “Songs and Stories” national tour in over a decade. The Canada’s Walk of Fame inductee who was named one of “The 25 Greatest Canadian Singers Ever” gets set to add another notch on her impressive career belt, by captivating audiences nationwide with her classic repertoire of songs, aided by her poignant storytelling prowess.

“This tour is incredibly special to me because it’s been 17 years since I’ve headlined my own cross-country tour, and this time it’s different—it’s as an independent artist. What makes it even more meaningful is that it’s dedicated to my late mother Agatha,” says the Gemini Award-winning artist. “The last time I toured, she was here on Earth to witness it, but now I honor her memory and legacy through every step of this journey.”

No stranger to the big bright concert stage lights, as a performer, Jully’s torn up stages alongside artists like Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Elton John, Celine Dion, and Jesse Reyez. Likewise, she has written songs for and collaborated with iconic industry heavyweights including Nas, Destiny’s Child, Sean Paul, and Ian Thornley (Big Wreck) among others. This time around, the talented musician, actress, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and fitness leader, who’s philanthropic work has taken her to villages; from Bangladesh to South Africa, and across Canada and the US, is taking her talents coast-to-coast while also helping to shine a light on some incredibly talented emerging Canadian acts. “I made a conscious decision to be a bridge for emerging artists, as I believe there’s enough room for all of us to shine, and I’m committed to creating opportunities that I didn’t have when I was coming up. Instead of complaining about the challenges Black artists face in Canada, I’ve chosen to be the change I want to see.”

The “Songs and Stories” tour kicks off on February 7th in Oakville (Ontario) and wraps up in mid-March in Alberta. It’s not just about the music—it’s about celebrating the love and light around me. I’m sharing my most vulnerable self, showing that courage comes from embracing our truths and honoring those who’ve paved the way, even if they’re no longer with us.”
