Nadine Spencer is a Jamaican-born Canadian businesswoman who currently serves as the CEO of the Black Business and Professional Association (the BBPA). She served as the organization's president from 2017 until being named CEO in November 2021. She's also the founder and CEO of BrandEq Group, a global marketing and communications agency specializing in marketing, communications and public relations.
Listed among the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women book, Nadine has received numerous awards, including the Harry Jerome Business Award, The Dale Carnegie Highest Award in Public Speaking Award, The Brilliant Minded Women’s Organization Philanthropy Award and the Junior League of Toronto Award for Excellence.
In this podcast conversation, we discuss the BBPA's involvement, in partnership with the Canadian Congress on Diversity and Workplace Equity, Pride at Work, and Ryerson University’s Diversity Institute, and a creative agency partner, in the development and launch back in December of the Micropedia of Microaggressions.
Available at TheMicropedia.org, the digital resource aims to shed light and equip Canadians with tools for understanding a subtle but commonly experienced form of discrimination—microaggressions. The vetted encyclopedia is designed to highlight the pervasiveness and harm of microaggressions with tips to help change behaviours.
