I recently discovered the soothing vocal sounds of Los Angeles-based singer Sy Smith. Known as the “Queen of Underground Soul,” her style is a mix of funk, neo-soul and R&B.
She's currently promoting the third single, "Camelot," from her indie album "Sometimes a Rose Will Grow in Concrete" -- released in February of this year. On “Camelot,” she takes us on a heavenly, throwback-quiet-storm type of journey, inviting us to dream and fantasize along with her about the perfect love, “all in my mind.” See her performing the song live below:
An acclaimed vocalist, Sy Smith has toured and recorded with many legendary artists and musical greats, including Whitney Houston, Meshell Ndegeocello, Macy Gray, Chaka Khan and Grammy-winning trumpeter Chris Botti.
Although there aren't any Toronto dates, she is performing on November 2nd at the Apollo Music Cafe in New York, NY.
